Began Friday, June 2nd, 2006 and ran all summer.
32 Bands competed for merchandise prizes and recording studio time.
Four bands on-stage at Gand Music & Sound for 8 weeks of preliminary rounds, 3 weeks of semifinals, and concluding with the final round on August 18th.
A $5000 grand prize package was awarded to the best overall band, which will include free recording time at Uptown Recording in Chicago, and items from our sponsors.
How it works
Every Friday night from June 2nd through July 21, 2006, four different bands will take the stage to perform their best 15 minute set. One band will be chosen from each Friday night to advance to the semifinal round. The winning band each Friday night will be chosen by audience ballot. A limited number of free admission tickets will be provided to band members. Four additional bands will also qualify as a "Wild Card" bands to advance to the semifinal rounds. One band from each of the three semifinals will then advance to the Battle of the Bands III Final Round to determine the overall champion.
Gand Music & Sound will provide all of the necessary backline gear for the bands on our 8' x 16' stage including Fender, Marshall, Randall, Vox, Budda guitar amplifiers and Eden bass amplifiers. A Yamaha, Pearl or Gretsch 5 piece drum kit with Sabian Cymbals are setup onstage for all bands to use. Lighting, sound system, and floor monitors will be provided including a multichannel mixing console, active powered speakers for mains and monitors. Microphones from Shure and Audio-Technica and direct boxes from Radial and Whirlwind will also be available.

Prizes and Awards
In addition to a grand prize merchandise package from Gand Music & Sound and event sponsors, the winning band will receive a free day of recording time at Uptown Recording in Chicago.
Trophies and awards will be given to outstanding individual performers. Awards will be given to most outstanding vocalists, best guitarist, best bass player, best drummer, best keyboard player, best original song, and more!
Female Musicians Wanted!!
Exclusive to this event, a Daisy Rock Stardust Elite Electric guitar in Crimson Burst (retail value $499) will be awarded to the most outstanding individual female performance. This will not necessarily be awarded to a guitar player. It could be an outstanding female vocal performance, keyboard, guitar, bass, drums, etc.
